Portuguese Chapels

Two heritage chapels enjoy the spotlight:

• Nossa Senhora dos Rosário aka Our Lady of Rosary Chapel
• Nossa Senhora das Angústias aka Our Lady of Sorrows Chapel

But there are also four chapels hidden from the general public as they’re housed inside other heritage buildings…

Our lady of Fatima Chapel

(O L of Fatima Convent)

Out of a total of 40 convents that existed in the Big Daman fort during the course of the 400-year period of Portuguese rule, Our Lady of Fatima Convent is the only one in existence today—some fell into disrepair while others got converted into government establishments, like the sub-jail, for example.
